Copyright Policy

Submission of the manuscript represent that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not considered for publication elsewhere. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain and submit all written permissions required, including permission to quote material which has appeared in another publication. Authors are required to sign and submit the completed “Copyright transfer Form” upon acceptance of publication of the paper. This is determined by a publishing agreement between the author and African Research Journal of Biosciences. These rights might include the right to publish, communicate and distribute online. Author(s) retain the copyright of their work. African Research Journal of Biosciences use the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY) is one of the most liberal CC licenses for publishing scientific articles, as it allows the public to adapt and share an author’s work, even for commercial use, as long as the author is properly cited. African Research Journal of Biosciences supports the need for authors to share, disseminate and maximize the impact of their research and these rights are defined below:


  • Copyright on any open access article in a journal published by African Research Journal of Biosciences is retained by the author(s).

  • Authors grant a license to African Research Journal of Biosciences to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher.

  • Authors also grant any third party the right to use the article freely as long as its integrity is maintained and its original authors, citation details and publisher are identified.

  • Retain patent and trademark rights

  • Re-use their own material in new works without permission or payment (with full acknowledgement of the original article):

    1. Extend an article to book length

    2. Include an article in a subsequent compilation of their own work

    3. Re-use portions, excerpts, and their own figures or tables in other works.

Rights and Permissions

All the articles published in the African Research Journal of Biosciences are Open Access, you do not need to seek permission from the publisher for reuse. The copyright of articles remains with the authors, who have chosen to make the articles available for reuse under an open license, such as the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). These licenses permit reuse and adaptation, as long as the original authors are cited.
